Im 2010 was the photovoltaics, the leading technology for the use of renewable energy sources in terms of newly installed capacity of nearly 13,000 megawatts (MW), reports the European PV industry instinct Association EPIA: Solar power production of these newly installed photovoltaic systems for electricity generation equivalent to two large coal-fired power plants.
at the end of 2010, the total in the EU PV capacity installed more than 28,000 MW, according to EPIA and provided a lot of solar power with which the consumption of some 10 million households can be met. "The growth of the PV 2010 was impressive. Falling costs, new applications, strong interest from investors and continued political support have contributed to this development and made the number one PV of green technologies in terms of installed capacity, said EPIA President Ingmar Wilhelm. "PV has been the established technology that contributes to the process of reducing CO2 emissions in our energy mix and should be used by the EU Member States even more in order to achieve the energy targets for 2010," added Wilhelm. "Over 70% of newly installed capacity is composed of small and medium-sized PV systems. PV is in fact the first choice of people in terms of energy supply because it can directly because participate and make their personal contribution to environmental protection, "added Wilhelm. For the second consecutive Germany was the largest photovoltaics market in the world, to the existing 9800 MW of photovoltaic capacity were once again added 6,500 MW. For the first time the extension in Italy and the Czech Republic grew by more than 1,000 MW.
be followed by these countries, Belgium, France and Spain, in which 2010 also marked expansion rates were realized. More detailed information, analysis and forecasts for the next four years will provide a market-EPIA Workshop, held in March. The results are in the EPIA projections for the PV-Weltmarkt bis 2015 einfließen.
